Alan Gershenhorn retired from UPS in June 2018 after 39 years. As a member of the UPS Management Committee, for 11 years, the executive board of UPS, Alan served in various positions including SVP and President of UPS International, SVP Global Sales and Marketing and also as the first EVP and Chief Commercial Officer of the company. In his most recent portfolio, as EVP and CCO, Alan directed global strategy, mergers and acquisitions, sales, marketing, digital channels, product and solution development, customer technology and experience management, advertising, public relations, customer communications, public affairs and key growth strategies across the enterprise. He led several strategic initiatives and significant acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic enterprise fund investments including Coyote Logistics, the largest acquisition in UPS history and the joint venture with SF Express, the China domestic express market leader. Coyote both accelerated UPS’ entry into the lucrative truckload market as well as provided over $100M in annual enterprise synergies. The JV with SF Express is enabling UPS to accelerate growth to and from China, which is the leader in terms of e-commerce market size, growth and mobile business usage. Alan also led the company wide strategic assessment, the precursor to the UPS transformation that was announced in late 2018 and is underway, to take advantage of record growth in demand for logistics services through greater utilization of advanced technologies that will streamline work processes and enhance the customer experience driving top line growth while strengthening shareowner returns.

Prior to joining the UPS Management Committee in 2007, Alan served in many roles of increasing responsibility throughout his UPS career, including VP International Marketing, VP Strategy and President UPS Canada and President UPS Asia, Europe, Middle East and Africa Supply Chain.

Currently, he is a board director for two PE backed logistics companies; Worldwide Express and Transportation Insight, a board director for Beacon Roofing Supply, (NASDAQ; BECN), and an advisor to 8VC and some of their portfolio companies and he also provides advisory services to other VC, PE and public companies.
